LaMetric Solar Glance: hundreds of energy devices, one live screen

How we turned data from hundreds of inverters, meters and gateways into live, branded screens that install in about 10 minutes and run 24/7, managed and updated over the air.

The product

LaMetric Solar Glance is digital signage for the energy industry. A media player connected to a commercial display turns real-time data from a solar plant into a branded video display: production, consumption, self-consumption, COâ‚‚ savings and trees planted, live in offices, schools and ZEV communities. Built by the same in-house team on the LaMetric platform.

The challenges

Showing solar data on a screen sounds simple. Making it work for any plant, in any building, all day, every day, is not. The data lives in hundreds of different inverters, meters and gateways. The screen runs in public spaces around the clock. Installers need it working in minutes, and owners want to change content and keep devices updated without a site visit.

Hundreds of data sources

One product that reads live data from hundreds of different inverters, meters and gateways, including Solar-Log.

Running 24/7 in public spaces

A display built to run around the clock in offices, schools and communities, where a blank screen is visible to everyone.

Managed from anywhere

Configuration, content and firmware updates done remotely from the cloud, without visiting the site.

Clear and on brand

Raw plant data turned into figures anyone understands, in the owner's logo, colours, photos and videos.

Installed in minutes

About 10 minutes to set up on commercial displays from 24 to 75 inches.

Our approach

The device: a media player that connects to commercial displays from 24 to 75 inches, sets up in about 10 minutes and is built to run 24/7. The Edge Box version is made for industrial use, in an aluminium enclosure.

Data integrations: connects to hundreds of inverters, meters and gateways, with data providers such as Solar-Log added from the cloud.

The cloud: an online management system where data updates instantly, screens are configured remotely, slides and timing are set by the owner and firmware is updated over the air.

The experience: solar production, energy consumption, self-consumption rate, COâ‚‚ savings and trees planted, shown over a solar-themed video or the owner’s own photos and videos, with a welcome message for visitors.

The platform: built by the in-house team behind LaMetric TIME and LaMetric SKY, taking the LaMetric platform into the energy industry.

What it means for you: integrating many energy devices, running displays 24/7 and managing them over the air are problems we have already solved in our own product, and we bring that experience to yours.

02

Computer vision for screen sizing

During setup, computer vision recognises the actual size of the connected TV and applies the matching product licence automatically. That lets the Edge Box ship without a TV.

03

Data integrations

Connects to hundreds of inverters, meters and gateways, with data providers such as Solar-Log added from the cloud.

04

The cloud

An online management system where data updates instantly, screens are configured remotely, slides and timing are set by the owner and firmware is updated over the air. The multi-tenant LaMetric Solar Glance CMS lets every customer run and update its own fleet of screens from one place.

05
